Frequently asked questions
Straight answers to the 22 questions homeowners ask us most, about estimates, scheduling, preparation, products and what happens after the paint dries.

Estimates and pricing
Yes. The visit and the written estimate cost nothing, and there's no obligation to book. We'll measure, look at surface condition and answer your questions while we're there.
Surface area, the amount of repair and preparation required, the number of colors, ceiling heights, access and the products selected. Your estimate breaks these down so you can see where the cost comes from.
Color and sheen guidance is part of every project. We can bring fan decks, suggest combinations and help you test samples on your own walls.
Photos help us give you a rough idea, but a written estimate requires an on-site visit so we can see the condition of the surfaces and avoid surprises.
Scheduling
Interior projects can often be scheduled within a few weeks. Exterior work during peak season fills up sooner, so earlier is better for those.
Our working hours are Monday through Saturday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Specific start times are confirmed with you before the project begins.
We pause outdoor painting and may shift to prep work or interior tasks when possible. The schedule is adjusted so paint is only applied in suitable conditions.
Preparation
Please remove small valuables, framed art and fragile items. We handle moving and covering larger furniture ourselves.
Routine repairs such as nail holes, small dents and hairline cracks are included in our prep. Larger drywall or plaster repairs are listed separately so you can decide.
We can remove wallpaper as an added scope item. The walls underneath usually need repair and a primer before they're ready for paint.
Products and colors
We use professional-grade products from established manufacturers, chosen for the surface and the room. If you have a preferred brand or a specific color line, let us know.
In some cases, yes. We'll want to confirm the product is suitable for the surface, since the wrong paint can undermine the finish regardless of how carefully it's applied.
Yes. Low-odor and zero-VOC options are available for most interior surfaces, which is helpful for nurseries, bedrooms and anyone sensitive to smells.
Interior projects
Yes. Most clients stay home during interior work. We sequence rooms so you always have usable spaces and keep walkways clear.
Floors are covered edge to edge with drop cloths or rosin paper, depending on the surface, and taped where needed. Protection stays in place until the room is complete.
Yes. We bring the ladders and plank setups needed to reach tall walls safely and paint them with the same care as standard rooms.
Exterior projects
Cleaning is part of exterior prep. Depending on the siding, we wash or brush down surfaces and allow them to dry fully before priming.
Yes. Shrubs and garden beds near the house are covered, and paint chips are collected on tarps throughout the day.
Yes. Major color changes may need an extra coat for full coverage, especially when going from dark to light. We'll account for that in the estimate.
After the job
Let us know. We'll come back to look at it and make it right if it's related to our work.
Give the paint a few weeks to fully cure before scrubbing. Light cleaning with a soft cloth and mild soap is fine after that.
Yes. Leftover paint is labeled with the color and room and left with you for future touch-ups.
